You are a PRINCESS!

"Act the way you'd like to be
and soon you'll be the way you act."
Leonard Cohen

I've heard this advice in many variations.
I was listening to a video of Neil Gaiman
 giving a commencement speech.
He said that if you are afraid to do something,
think of someone you think who would do
a good job and act like them.

Wouldn't it be better if we knew the truth
of who we are,
then we would be acting from
the best of ourselves?

 If nothing ever changed,
there would be no butterflies.

We are always growing
and changing,
transforming.
Let's be more intentional
about our changing!
"A woman's true beauty is in her soul."
Do you know who you really are?

You are a PRINCESS!
You are the daughter of the KING!

You are God's work of art!
He took great care in forming you!
Isn't life a wonderful fairytale?
Only it's not a fairytale!
One day we will join our Father, the King,
and live in His Kingdom forever!

Don't Throw away that Plastic Bottle!

My mom always taught us to "recycle".
When we were young,
she made stuffed toys out of scrap cloth,
made "eggs" out of felt scraps,
Christmas decor out of egg shells,
banks out of big plastic bottles.

Here's a project using yakult bottles.
We're going to need a styrofoam or a wooden ball.
Use either white glue or a glue gun
to attach the ball to the neck of the yakult bottle.
If you want to make the doll heavier,
pour sand or little stones inside the bottle
before attaching the head.

Paint wall putty or gesso on the ball.
Wait for it to dry.

When dry, sand the wall putty or gesso
to smoothen it.

Paint the face with acrylics.
If you don't know how to paint a face,
use googly eyes.

Wrap cloth around the yakult bottle
and use a glue gun to attach the back.
I like using cloth cut out from old clothes.

Tear old cloth into thin strips.
Cut fabric strips twice the length
you want the doll's hair to be.
Gather a bunch of  the cloth strips and tie in the middle.
Glue it on top of the doll's head.
Shorten the strips covering doll's face to make bangs.

To make arms, cut out strips of cloth.
The length should be a little longer
than the body.

Cut out hands from a piece of leather,
felt or cardboard.
If you can't draw hands with fingers,
cut out mittens, or just cut out
a simple simple semi-circle.
Fold the cloth over the hands
and use a glue gun to attach everything.

Use a glue gun to attach arms to doll's body.

Next, make shoes out of leather, felt or cardboard.
Just make a loop out of the leather strip.
Cover up the sides, or put a strip over the loop.

Make the pants by cutting strips
of cloth longer than the body.
Fold the cloth over the ankle and glue.

Here's the front of the leg.

To decorate the doll, you can
put a ribbon or flowers in her hair.
You can also put a lace collar,
buttons, or other embellishments
on her dress.
I let my doll carry sunflowers.

Last step, put her on a shelf to brighten
that corner of the cabinet!

Here's the project being featured on the Good News TV show.

Dream!

"A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams."
John Barrymore

My father is 86 years old.
We always say that he is still young
because he is still dreaming,
always learning new things
(like how to make the metal DREAM above!),
still sailing in Batangas,
planning on building his next boat
or teaching someone to make a boat!
 James Dean said,
"Dream as if you'll live forever,
live as if you'd die today!"
"You see things and you say, 'Why?',
but I dream things that never were
and say, 'Why not?' "
George Bernard Shaw

If our dreams are too small,
too reachable,
then we do not put God into the equation.

Dreams are keys to unlock a bright tomorrow!
We should always be optimistic,
enthusiastic, motivated by a dream
or a vision that God put in our heart.
How exciting life would be if we
all had an adventure with God
holding our hand!

Follow your dreams!
"With God all things are possible!"
Matthew 19:26

Dream! Believe! Hope!
Do not allow the routine of our days
to steal our hopes and dreams!
We have to believe in ourselves,
believe that God has a wonderful plan for us,
believe that He is working to make it come true!
I believe that dreams come true!
Sometimes we are afraid to dream because
we fear disappointment.
Sometimes there are negative voices that we listen to
that say who are you to dream?
You can't reach that goal!
You are not smart enough!
"Remember that whatever God's dream
about men may be,
it seems certain it cannot come true
unless man cooperates." Stella Mann

In Ephesians 3:20, we can read:
Now to Him who by the power that is at work within us,
is able to carry out His purpose,
far above all that we dare to ask or think,
(infinitely beyond our highest prayers,
desires, thoughts, hopes or dreams)-
to Him be glory throughout all generations
forever and ever!

What are your dreams?
Are they far beyond what you think you can do?

Tutorial: Fused Plastic Bags

During the last election, a lady from a TV show called
to ask me if I had a project to re-use
the election banners after the elections.
  Can you believe this scene?

I like thinking positively and this seems like a gigantic "fiesta"!
But really, what are we going to do with all those banners afterwards?

I got some banners and experimented-
first I cleaned it up, then I put two printed sides together:
I then fused the two plastic banners together by ironing them,
putting a layer of paper over it to protect my iron:
I folded some parts to make it thicker and ironed it again.

Amazingly, acrylic paint sticks!
I had a fun time painting it!
It had a sort of "coagulated" texture that made the paint on it interesting.
Then I sewed it up,
putting buttons and to reinforce the sides, I piped it with leather.
Of course you can also do this with PLASTIC BAGS!
There are too many plastic bags thrown into the garbage!
They end up in our oceans and rivers and do so much damage!

This is a project still in progress.
I'm going to make it into the cover for a journal.
Of course  you can find lots of journals,
scrapbooks and notebooks at
Here are some of our new designs.
