More about the prize:
The magazine’s name, The Word Among Us, comes from the Prologue to the Gospel of John: “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father” (John 1:14). This passage reflects the vision and purpose of our publication: To be an instrument of the Spirit whose desire is to manifest Jesus’ presence in and to the children of God. In this way, we hope to contribute to the church’s ongoing mission of proclaiming the gospel to the world and growing ever more deeply in our love for the Lord.

Throughout its history, The Word Among Us has continued to encourage its readers to experience God’s presence in scripture and prayer and thus receive the grace of the Spirit more deeply in their lives.

If you're from outside the Philippines, we can't send this magazine to you every month so you can win a Cross Pendant from us!

How to Make Every Time Valentime

- Husbands and wives need to spend quality time together not just on valentines day but at least once a week.  The daily cares of life, paying the bills, doing chores, work, can take its toll on the marriage putting a strain on the relationship.  Time for undivided attention, talking on matters geared towards having the same mind, peppered with fun and laughter is essential in keeping the love alive.  Philippians 2:2 says, "complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind."

- One busy couple with 3 young children has the habit of saying "I do" every night before they retire for the night.  This is their way of saying "I commit myself to you today" despite what has passed that day.  They might have had a disagreement or misunderstanding that day but despite all that, they have not missed saying these 2 words to each other.  "Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:31-32

- Amidst the rigors of corporate life and several trips abroad every year, one husband makes it a point to write his wife a love letter every month without miss.  He doesn't e-mail it but rather, he writes it on stationery, sometimes using different colored pens to express his love.  There is a special call to husbands to love their wives as Christ did the church.  He is called to give his very life for her.  To love is to do something out of the ordinary for the beloved and it's up to you to be creative in showing that great love!  Remember that age old adage "Expressing love increases love".  "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." - Ephesians 5:25

The bible is truly our guide for life.  It's the ultimate manual guide for life, complete with instructions for success in our daily living.  Let's study it!

Artistory: Meldy's Inspirations

Coming up with new product designs every month is not a piece of cake but Papemelroti designer Meldy does it with ease.  What's her secret?

She is the "ME" in "PA-PE-MEL-RO-TI", meaning she comes third in the family of 5 siblings.  The acronym comes from the first syllable of the siblings' names in order of appearance - PA stands for Patsy, PE for Peggy, MEL for Meldy, RO for Robert and TI for Tina.  They are all designers for the family business.

Several articles and TV features on Papemelroti mention you as a fast worker, how do you do it?
I visualize what i want to make in my mind first so the actual comes easy.

What music do you listen to when you create your sculpture?
I like christian contemporary music,  dance music and the latest hit list.
Your products are very cute and whimsical, how do you conceptualize them?
Where do you get your inspiration?
My family, world and God's creation around me are my inspiration.  The Isabel Angel (figurine) was fashioned after my daughter who had ringlets when she was a baby.  the rest are my son, husband, nephew, niece, cats, dogs, etc.

What are your favorite products that you designed and why?
My favorite is usually the newest one i designed like my God is love angel.

*Meldy's products featured here are not yet in the shop (except the Isabel Collection).  This is your exclusive sneak preview!

How I made my Fabric Journal Cover!

I started a new journal for the year
and wanted to make a fabric cover.
I cut up some cardboard
a little bigger than the pages inside
which were half the size of a short coupon bond.

Next I looked through my stash of cloth
and lace

and buttons and ribbons....
I keep a lot of these, just in case...

I audition the cloth and embellishments
to see how it looks.

Then I start doing embroidery-
cross stich, blanket stitch, etc.
Just doing what makes me happy.

I have to make the cloth big enough
to cover the front and back.

Next I folded the cloth in half,
with the front side facing each other.
Then I traced the cardboard cover on to the cloth
with pencil.
I then sewed it up on the wrong side
with running stitch, making sure that it won't be
a tight fit for the cardboard cover.

I then invert the cloth, insert the cardboard cover
and thin fiberfill stuffing.
I put holes in the cover using a fine pair of scissors.

Here is the finished product!
